Mackerel and spinach rice bowl #2
This is a slightly modified version of a recipe Mom used to make. This was good! I'll make this again.
- Fresh ginger, minced
- Fresh garlic, minced
- Soy sauce (shoyu)
- Sake
- A little sugar to taste
- Can of mackerel
- Fresh spinach
- Rice
I used a single serving can of mackerel. Mom used a large can, or fresh if it was available.
I prepped the ingredients ahead of time, but this isn't necessary. Garlic and ginger. Spinach.
The sauce is a simple homemade teriyaki marinade made with soy sauce, garlic, ginger, sake, and sugar. It's also the sauce in Japanese-style crushed hamburger.
Cook the mackerel in the sauce.
Add spinach when the mackerel is heated through.
Serve the mackerel and spinach onto the bed of warm white sushi rice.
